Regulatory and Policy Measures

The Reserve Bank of India had earlier issued a directive to U.P. Civil Secretariat Primary Co-operative Bank Ltd. on 11 March 2026 under Section 35A read with Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. The original directive prescribed a six‑month period of operation, set to expire at the close of business on 11 September 2026.

Pursuant to its statutory powers under sub‑section (1) of Section 35A read with Section 56, the RBI has now extended the directive for an additional three months, moving the expiry to the close of business on 11 December 2026, subject to further review. The extension is issued in the public interest, and the RBI clarifies that this extension should not be interpreted as an indication that it is satisfied with the bank’s financial condition. All other terms and conditions of the original directive remain unchanged.

The press release is signed by the Chief General Manager, Brij Raj.

In conclusion, the RBI has exercised its regulatory authority to prolong supervisory oversight of the U.P. Civil Secretariat Primary Co-operative Bank Ltd., extending the compliance timeline while maintaining existing conditions and emphasizing that the extension does not reflect a judgment on the bank’s financial health.
