The Department of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare, Government of India is organizing a two-day National Conference on Agriculture for Rabi Campaign 2026 on September 28-29, 2026 at the Bharat Ratna C. Subramaniam Auditorium, NASC Complex, Pusa, New Delhi. The conference will be inaugurated by Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan and will bring together State Agriculture Ministers, senior officials from Central and State Governments, ICAR representatives, and other stakeholders to deliberate on key priorities and preparedness for the forthcoming Rabi season.
The conference aims to strengthen Centre-State coordination and develop a coordinated, outcome-oriented strategy for enhancing agricultural production, productivity, sustainability, and farmers' incomes. The deliberations will build upon key learnings and outcomes from recently held Zonal Conferences on Agriculture.
Day one will feature three parallel thematic group discussions covering: Atmanirbharta, Diversification and Production Growth; Sustainability and Climate-Resilient Agriculture; and Digital Agriculture, Infrastructure, Financing and Risk Management. Specific issues include Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, oilseeds and oil palm, horticulture, cotton, seed availability and reforms in the seed value chain, natural farming, soil health, farm mechanization, FPO financing and infrastructure, marketing reforms, PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, Kisan Credit Card coverage, Digital Agriculture, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, plant protection, and agricultural statistics.
Day two will focus on key learnings from Zonal Conferences and outcomes from the first day's thematic discussions. The agenda includes Rabi season weather outlook, fertilizer availability and balanced use, Digital Agriculture Mission, Farmer Registry, Digital Crop Survey and AgriStack, Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses, National Mission on Edible Oils, crop and seed status, varietal adoption, PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana, marketing reforms, and preparation of Agriculture Plans through ATMA and KVKs.
The conference will provide a platform for State Agriculture Ministers to share their views, experiences, state priorities, and suggestions for agricultural development and Rabi season preparedness. The concluding session will summarize deliberations and prepare a robust roadmap for enhancing Rabi crop production and empowering farmers to achieve 'Atmanirbharta & Viksit Bharat' while ensuring food and nutritional security.
