Union Minister of Women and Child Development Smt. Annpurna Devi has issued a public appeal urging citizens to adopt Indian handloom products on the occasion of National Handloom Day (August 7, 2026). The Minister emphasized that India's handloom sector represents not just cloth but the foundation of Indian culture, traditions, and the livelihood security for lakhs of weaver families across the country.

Through a social media post on 'X', the Minister called upon citizens to respond to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's appeal by sharing videos featuring their favorite handloom products, thereby expanding the National Handloom Day into a broader people's movement. The initiative aims to strengthen the Vocal for Local resolve while simultaneously raising the pride and economic prospects of Indian artisans through increased domestic adoption of handloom products.
