The Ministry of Culture, through the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative, has featured 65 cultural mementos from Bihar in the PM Mementos e-Auction 2026. The collection showcases Bihar's diverse cultural heritage including folk art traditions, handcrafts, spirituality, history, and heritage artifacts presented to the Prime Minister.
The collection includes significant representations of Mithila/Madhubani painting traditions with artworks depicting Ram Sita Vivah, Ram Darbar, Chhath Puja, Das Mahavidya, sacred Yantras, and a Kachni-style Madhubani artwork depicting the Ramayana. Several Mithila Paags (traditional headgear) hand-painted with motifs such as fish and lotus flowers are also featured.
Bihar's craft heritage is represented through Sikki grass art including a detailed model of the New Parliament House of India and traditional woven Sikki baskets with integrated coasters. The collection also includes a hand-painted Madhubani artwork on a bamboo winnowing basket and a Manjusha (Angika) painting from Bhagalpur depicting Bharat Mata in traditional three-colour palette of yellow, green, and red.
Historical and spiritual elements include a copper-plate memento depicting freedom fighter Mangal Pandey, representations of Ashoka Stambh, Takhat Sri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib, Lord Buddha, Mahavir Swami, and various temples including Chandika Sthan and Badi Durga Maharani of Munger, Punaura Dham in Sitamarhi, Maa Aranya Devi Temple in Bhojpur, Baba Garibnath Temple in Muzaffarpur, Gorakhnath Dham and Mundeshwari Devi Temple in Kaimur. The collection also features mementos associated with Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur, Acharya Chanakya, and Guru Valmiki.
The e-auction offers base prices ranging from ₹1,500 to ₹1,20,000 and is live online until October 2, 2026, through the official PM Mementos e-Auction portal at https://pmmementos.gov.in. This content may not be financially relevant.
