Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal conducted a series of high-level bilateral and business engagements in Singapore on August 20, 2026, to reinforce the India-Singapore economic partnership and advance cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and business.

The engagements began with a call on Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at the Istana, followed by participation in the 4th India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) and the 4th India-Singapore Business Roundtable (ISBR) at Hotel Shangri-La. These roundtables served as platforms to discuss strengthening bilateral economic engagement and identifying new avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation, culminating in an MoU signing ceremony.

In the afternoon, Shri Goyal held Government-to-Business (G2B) meetings with senior leaders from the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) and Keppel Infrastructure, focusing on strengthening India-Singapore collaboration in agri-exports, GCC-based commercial parks, fintech, and sustainable infrastructure.

Shri Goyal jointly visited an APEDA-FairPrice initiative at City Square Mall with Singapore's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Trade & Industry, Ms. Gan Siow Huang, highlighting the growing agricultural trade and expanding market linkages between the two countries.

The evening included participation in the India-Singapore Business Forum organized by FICCI at the INSEAD Asia Campus, where Shri Goyal engaged in a fireside chat on "India in the New Global Growth Equation: Growth and Opportunity for Businesses in Asia and the World," followed by an interactive Q&A session with business community members.

The Indian delegation at the Ministerial Roundtable included Union Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister of External Affairs Dr. S. Jaishankar, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal, and Minister of State for Commerce Shri Jitendra Prasada. The Singapore side was represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Mr. Gan Kim Yong, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Mr. K. Shanmugam, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Digital Development and Information Ms. Josephine Teo, and Minister for Transport Mr. Jeffrey Siow.
