India Targets 500 GW Non-Fossil Fuel Capacity by 2030

The government is accelerating renewable energy integration, targeting over 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and over 600 GW by 2032, with major transmission and storage investments.
Green Energy Corridors in 10 states will evacuate 44 GW of renewable energy, with 26 GW already integrated, and a third phase (GEC-III) is under consideration.
To manage intermittency, 35.6 GW of pumped storage and 47 GW of battery storage are planned by 2031-32, supported by a ₹18,100 crore PLI for ACC battery manufacturing.
The PM Surya Ghar rooftop solar scheme targets 1 crore households by FY27, with 31.04 lakh installations by Feb 2026, backed by a ₹75,021 crore outlay.
