The Ministry of Railways conducted a high-level review meeting on 08 October 2026 under the chairmanship of the Secretary, Railway Board to assess progress of Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters 6 (SCDPM-6). The campaign, running from 2nd to 31st October 2026, has set ambitious targets including cleaning 100,000 sites, freeing 700,000 square feet of space, and generating ₹600 crore through scrap and e-waste disposal by month end.

A special emphasis is placed on effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste in compliance with E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, along with scrap disposal following General Financial Rules. The campaign promotes Waste to Wonder initiatives and identifies good practices for wider adoption across the railway network.

The citizen engagement component includes Rail Jan Samvaad, with a dedicated Rail Jan Yuva Samvaad platform for youth participation. A pan-India Rail Jan Samvaad is scheduled at all stations on 22 October 2026 to involve the public in the cleanliness initiatives.

Various railway zones have implemented specific activities including cleanliness drives at Hazrat Nizamuddin Station in Delhi, solid waste segregation training at Sirhind Junction promoting 4-stream waste segregation, health checkup camps organized by Central Railway at Nagpur for railway personnel, and awareness sessions by Eastern Railway's Sealdah Division to promote compliance with Solid Waste Management Rules 2026. North Eastern Railway conducted intensive cleaning of train facilities while South Western Railway organized various activities promoting cleanliness and sustainability.
