Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) Chairman Shri Manoj Goel inaugurated a special Khadi and Village Industries Exhibition at Delhi Haat, I.N.A., as part of the 'Khadi Festival-2026'. The exhibition, which will run until October 15, 2026, features 115 stalls showcasing India's diverse cultural heritage and traditional craftsmanship, with 48 stalls dedicated to Khadi products and the remaining stalls operated by entrepreneurs and artisans from Gramodyog & PMEGP (Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme) units.
The exhibition represents a 'Mini India' with participation from artisans, Khadi institutions, village industries units, and entrepreneurs from across the country. Regional specialties include silk products from Karnataka, traditional weaving from Tamil Nadu, kalamkari products from Andhra Pradesh, Ikkat tradition from Telangana, and traditional textile crafts from Kerala. Eastern India is represented by fine muslin and handloom from West Bengal, silk and tusser products from Bihar, and traditional weaving from Odisha. Northeast India contributes bamboo and natural material products, while North and West India showcase traditional textiles from Gujarat, handicrafts from Rajasthan, woolen products from Himachal Pradesh, and tribal crafts from Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh.
Chairman Goel stated that the exhibition aims to convey Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call of 'Har Ghar Swadeshi, Ghar-Ghar Swadeshi' to the masses and Gen-Z population. He emphasized that Khadi and village industries represent not just products but the hard work and self-reliance of millions of artisans, weavers, and rural entrepreneurs. The KVIC reported that the Khadi and Village Industries sector achieved a turnover of over ₹1.87 lakh crore in the financial year 2025-26 while providing employment to more than 2.04 crore people. The commission expressed confidence in achieving its future turnover target of ₹2.51 lakh crore.
