The National Institute of Sowa Rigpa (NISR) in Leh, in collaboration with Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, organized a seminar on 'Integration of Yoga for Public Health' as part of the International Festival of Yoga and Meditation 2026. The event took place on June 18, 2026, and brought together experts, practitioners, delegates, and participants to discuss the role of Yoga and traditional medicine systems in promoting holistic health.

Dr. Padma Gurmet, Director of NISR, emphasized the integration of Yoga with Sowa Rigpa for strengthening preventive healthcare and public health initiatives. Chief Guest Dr. Ishwar V. Basavaraddi, Former Director of Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, spoke about Yoga's role in holistic health, while Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena addressed meditation, compassion, and inner well-being.

The seminar featured presentations on 'Building Emotional Resilience through Yoga,' 'Emotional Fitness: A Skill for the Future,' and 'The integration of Yoga with Sowa Rigpa.' The festival is being held across Ladakh from June 15-21, 2026, to commemorate the 12th UN International Day of Yoga, and includes Yogathon, meditation sessions, youth outreach programs, and Yoga events at iconic locations. Key highlights include special Yoga sessions at Siachen Base Camp and Pangong Lake, showcasing Ladakh as a destination for wellness and holistic living.
