The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare has drafted the Pesticides Management Bill, 2026, which aligns with current regulatory requirements and the Jan Vishwas Act. The draft bill was circulated to all Ministries/Departments and State/UT Governments on December 30, 2025, for comments, and subsequently placed in the public domain on January 7, 2026, to invite feedback from the general public and stakeholders including pesticide manufacturers, dealers/retailers, and other interested parties.
A substantial number of suggestions and observations have been received from various stakeholders including states/UTs, Ministries/Departments, pesticide manufacturer associations, pesticide dealers, individual pesticide manufacturers, farmers, and NGOs. The feedback covers various aspects of pesticide management and regulation, with specific mention of data protection issues.
This information was formally provided by the Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shri Ramnath Thakur, in a written reply presented in the Lok Sabha on July 28, 2026.
