Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav Global Sammelan at 11 AM on 23 October 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi and address the gathering. The three-day sammelan, running from 23 to 25 October 2026, will bring together over 9,000 participants from India and abroad. This event marks the culmination of year-long celebrations commemorating 75 years of the Chinmaya Mission, a global spiritual movement founded by Swami Chinmayananda in 1951 to make Vedanta and Bhagavad Gita wisdom accessible.
The year-long celebrations began last year with the Prime Minister releasing a Tamil versification of the Bhagavad Gita, produced by Chinmaya Mission with music by Ilaiyaraaja, at Gangaikonda Cholapuram in Tamil Nadu. Initiatives during the year included mass havans at multiple locations, consecration of the Maa Soundarya Chinmayi Temple in Tripura, and Chinmaya Gita Samarpanam where over 1 lakh people globally chanted the 15th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita together online. The Gita Panchamrit initiative focused on five select verses of the Bhagavad Gita. Additionally, 15 young members of Chinmaya Yuva Kendra undertook the Chinmaya Amrit Yatra, traveling over 40,000 km across India to spread the Gita's message.
