Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) celebrated its 15th Foundation Day with a Stakeholders' Meet on September 20, 2026, highlighting its central role in India's clean energy vision. The event was attended by Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for Ministry of New & Renewable Energy and Power, who stated that SECI's journey reflects India's growing leadership in global renewable energy transition.
SECI's cumulative achievements include over 41 GW of renewable energy generation capacity commissioned through third-party developers, power sale agreements of over 67 GW signed with various DISCOMs/consumers, and enabling cumulative market investments of approximately ₹3.6 lakh crores. The corporation is rapidly scaling its own projects portfolio and actively promoting energy storage, green hydrogen, and allied areas.
The Stakeholders' Meet featured two thematic sessions: "Reimagining Industry through Green Molecules" explored the role of green hydrogen and its derivatives in decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors, covering opportunities for domestic production, emerging applications, and required policy support, infrastructure, technology, and financing. The second session, "The Changing Energy Landscape: Distributed Renewables and New Energy Markets," examined the evolving role of distributed renewable energy in India, including greater consumer participation, integration of distributed energy resources, emerging market mechanisms, and necessary policy and regulatory frameworks.
SECI, incorporated on September 20, 2011, began as India's dedicated implementing agency for the National Solar Mission and has grown into a Navratna CPSE under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy with a mandate spanning the complete renewable energy ecosystem. Managing Director Shri Akash Tripathi emphasized SECI's commitment to opening new opportunities in the renewable energy sector through close stakeholder collaboration and innovation with market requirements.
