The Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment published a case study highlighting Smt Sunithamol P.S., a resident of Mararikulam in Alappuzha district, Kerala, who transitioned from a decade of unemployment to successful entrepreneurship. Despite completing education up to the 12th standard and managing household responsibilities while raising two children, she remained unemployed for nearly ten years while aspiring to achieve financial independence.

In 2023, Sunithamol received a loan of Rs 2.85 lakh under the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC)'s Mahila Aajeevika Yojana (MAY), facilitated through the Kerala State Women's Development Corporation (KSWDC). She utilized this financial assistance to purchase necessary materials for a bakery and rented a shop in her town, transforming her entrepreneurial ambition into a operational business.

Through dedication and hard work, Sunithamol built her bakery into a successful venture that became a reliable income source. After meeting all loan repayment obligations, she now earns approximately Rs 20,000 per month from her bakery business. This income has strengthened her financial independence and enabled meaningful contributions to her family's livelihood, demonstrating how access to credit combined with determination can create new opportunities for women entrepreneurs.
