The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has inaugurated a new office facility at the Talkatora Annexe Building in New Delhi on June 19, 2026. The expansion addresses the Commission's growing space constraints that have persisted for a considerable period, driven by significantly expanded responsibilities over the years.

UPSC Chairman Dr. Ajay Kumar stated that certain offices will be shifted to the Talkatora Annexe Building on an interim basis until permanent facilities are developed at Dholpur House, the Commission's headquarters since 1952. The expansion supports UPSC's evolving functions, including the establishment of a Centre of Excellence and other institutional initiatives.

The new infrastructure is expected to enhance administrative efficiency, facilitate better coordination among various divisions, and support the Commission in effectively discharging its constitutional mandate of ensuring transparent, fair, and merit-based recruitment to India's civil services and other public services. UPSC traces its origins to the Lee Commission recommendations that led to the establishment of the Public Service Commission in 1926, later reconstituted under the Constitution of India.

Dholpur House, originally constructed in 1920 as the capital residence of Maharaj-Rana Udai Bhan Singh of the erstwhile Dholpur State, has served as UPSC's headquarters since 1952 and remains the primary seat of India's premier constitutional recruitment agency.
